Meet Julie Besten

My passion for art began as a little girl drawing and manipulating clay.  But my true spark for the arts began in high school/college in drawing classes with live models.  But this wasn’t my career path, so on to a sales job out of college for ten years, got married and raised a family. Wow how time flies! Kids gone, husband retired. Time for me time!  Back to my love of drawing which turned to painting classes. Almost ten years now. I’m hooked! Oil painting is my choice of medium. My subjects are widespread. Favorites from photos my daughters have taken from their travels and some from my travels. I favor painting people as they make for a one-of-a-kind painting, but most challenging.

I have been a member of AGA for about 5/6 years. I have enjoyed learning from our talented experienced artists. I sold my first (2) paintings at our show in 2019. How exciting!👩‍🎨😆

I presently have two paintings in the art gallery show ‘Clay, Painting and Photography’ at Prospect City Hall. Open to the public Oct 2024 thru Jan 8, 2025. Free of charge!
