Jeanne Freibert was born into an artistic family and has been making art ever since.
She earned a BFA degree from Murray State before embarking on a career in commercial photography. Her talent was commissioned by national magazines such as Time and Newsweek, as well as major corporations including Rockwell, Yum! and Ford. Louisville’s Ad Club and Graphic Design Association (among others) awarded her work repeatedly.
Jeanne always knew she would one day be a teacher and eventually earned an MAT in Art. Her students enjoyed diverse media, created large scale artworks for fundraisers and participated in competitions and community service projects. Several institutes, such as the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, awarded grants for Jeanne’s art programs.
She formally opened a studio in 2018 and has since explored various themes and media. Today she paints in oils, often very thick impasto style. Additionally, Jeanne combines her photos with layers of oils and wax for a surreal effect. No matter the exact media, texture and detail are sure to be part of Jeanne’s art.
Commissions engage Jeanne like no other projects; they provide challenging parameters within which she can create freely. She is most honored when entrusted to commemorate her clients’ furry friends.
Numerous juried, invitational and solo exhibits regionally, nationally and abroad have featured Jeanne’s work throughout the years. Today she is elated to be a member of St. Matthews Galleries and certified KY Crafted Artist exhibiting at the KY Artisan Center.
