After earning a degree in Art Therapy I secured a job teaching art to Kindergarten-4th graders at St. Francis School in Goshen for almost 20 years. For at least 10 years since ( thanks to Louisville Visual Art) I have held a weekly art class for kids living at St. Joes Children’s Home. Their art is honest, heartfelt and is a healthy outlet. Last week at the end of class a 12-year-old girl said, “art is a relief from the weight of the world.” I couldn’t agree more.
I am a mixed media artist and I express my gratitude for life with the media that speaks to me at the time. I enjoy painting in oil and adding encaustic wax for a soft organic feel. I love working with wood on my scroll saw when I want to be more physical. Creating pen and ink drawings and black and white photography allows me to be fully in the moment. Art is my therapy. I am grateful for the creative friends I have made through AGA and the Guilds support of LVA means a great deal to me as well. Most recently my art was on display at City Hall in Prospect called “Clay, Painting and Photography’.
